Cornwall is a place of dramatic extremes. The north Coast with it's spendid beaches and rugged cliffs fending off the Atlantic Ocean. It's towns of St Ives (90 mins from Fowey) with the Tate Gallery will stretch your imagination. Padstow (45 mins) is the home of Rick Stein's famous sea food restaurant and Port Isaac (40 mins) hosts ITV's Doc Martin with Martin Clunes. In the middle lie the moors, mines and the great industrial steam engine heritage.
The city of Truro has 800 years of history. It also contains in proportion the most independent shops of any town or city. The South Coast is warmed by the Gulf Stream and has many world renowned gardens. Penzance (90 mins away) is the gateway to the Isle of Scilly, Falmouth (60 mins) is the great maritime centre, across the Carrick rocks lays St Mawes and the delightful Rose pensinsula. Across our bay is Charlestown, where the four master ships berth, the setting for numerous films including Disney and the Poldark TV series. To the East, step back in time at Looe and Polperro. The Monkey Sanctuary at Looe promotes environmental and natural wildlife conservation as well as offering a refuge for over 40 years.
